How To Associate File Extensions To Desired Opening Programs

Have you notice that sometimes you need to tell Windows what a file is and with what the OS needs to open that for it to run? Well that is usually because the Microsoft Product can’t recognize what file extension you are using. But after figuring out what is what, there is a way to avoid being asked again and again with what to open what. With other words there is the possibility to associate a program with something and afterwards automatically open with that.

Here are the steps to do so:

  1. Hold the “Windows” key and press the “E” key. This will open for you Windows Explorer.

  2. Now simply go to the file you want to manage.

  3. Right click the desired file and click the “Open with” option.

  4. Now click on the “Choose default program…”

  5. Now select the program you want to use under the “Recommended Programs.” If this isn’t in the list click the arrow near “Other Programs” to see other things. For even more options you can specify yourself by pressing the “Browse” at the bottom of the page. Search for the program in the Windows interface and after press “OK”.

  6. Be sure you check “Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.”

Now click the “OK” to set this association.
