Thanks to XDA developers, all those reading this with a Samsung Epic 4G near them can now update to Android 2.2.1, the revised version of Froyo, due to an official leak. They have spotted the official update download link, hosted to Google servers. That means the file you are about to install holds the official OTA version of the update, so all of your fears regarding hacks and modified ROMs can be dismissed. To figure things out, this guide is used to update the Samsung Epic 4G to Android 2.2.1 and can be performed even if you are unlocked.   3. Shut down the phone.

  4. Enter Recovery Mode by holding the “Volume Down”, “Camera” and “Power” buttons pressed. While in Recovery Mode, you can navigate using the Volume buttons.

  5. Select the “Apply” option.

  6. All you have to do now is wait for the phone to restart and you should be updated.
