How To Hide / Disable Ping Feature In iTunes 10.1

The iTunes Ping is a social networking software that is music related and it has been developed by Apple and released along with the iTunes 10.1 application. The Ping service has more than one millions users that are from 23 different countries. Ping by Apple can be used through iTunes for iPod Touch and iPhone.

Steve Jobs said that Ping is a mix of Facebook and Twitter with iTunes applications, but he was very clear that Ping is not Facebook and neitheir is Twitter, it is simple a service created for those users that love music. That’s Ping’s purpose to server the music enthusiasts worldwide. Ping can be used to follow singers, artists, friends and all the posts posted by the ones you follow on Ping, will be accessible to you. However, besides the good things about Ping, there are many users that do not wish to use it on their Apple devices, and that’s why I’ve created this post.

This small guide will help you disable or simply hide the Ping feature in iTunes, in case you don’t like it, otherwise, you should ignore these instructions. So, follow the steps below and you will be able of hiding and disabling the Ping option in iTunes.

How to hide the Ping feature in iTunes 10.1:

To hide only the Ping menu that is displayed in the iTunes sidebar menu then you should follow the instructions below:

  1. Click Edit.

  2. Select Preferences.

  3. Now click on the General tab.

  4. Now you need to un-check / deselect Ping option box. That’s it, now Ping won’t appear anymore in the iTunes sidebar.

How To Disable the Ping feature In iTunes 10.1:

To remove Ping from iTunes, completely, you need to follow these instructions:

  1. Click Edit.

  2. Select Preferences.

  3. Now click on the Parental Control tab.

  4. Now you have to un-check / deselect the Ping option box.

  5. Now you need to click on Lock and type in the administrator password. That’s it, now the Ping feature has been disabled for your iTunes application.
