Windows Updates: How to disable automatic restart caused by updates installation in Windows XP


If you’re using Windows XP, then you must be pissed off because it wants to restart each time an update is installed. Fortunately, you can deactivate the automatic restart caused by updates installation, by following this steps:

  1. Go to Start.

  2. Click Run.

  3. Type gsedit.msc and press Enter.

  4. Click the plus sign on the Expand Local Group Policy.

  5. Click the plus sign on Computer Configuration.

  6. Then click the plus sign on Administrative Template.

  7. Double click the Windows Components.

  8. Double click the Windows Update on the right side.

  9. Right click the No auto-restart for scheduled Automatic Updates Installations.

  10. Go to Properties.

  11. Click Enable.

  12. Click Apply and then ok.

  13. Close the windows and click yes and save, when prompted.

  14. Restart your PC.

Now you shouldn’t be stressed anymore by automatic restarts caused by updates installation.
