  1. Previously you’ve downloaded the Android SDK. Extract and install or you can simply update it to your PC.

  2. Now open the DoRoot zip and extract the files into ‘Tools’ folder that can be found within the Android SDK.

  3. Now you need to install the Motorola Mobile Phone USB Drivers with MotoConnect. ┬áIf you wish to block the application from opening the website of Verizon / Motorola when the phone connects , then you should right click the MotoConnect icon, which is located in the notification area, and for the ‘When phone Connects’ setting you need to click ‘Nothing’.

  4. Now you need to set the Droid2 in PC mode with the USB Debugging features enabled. To set PC Mode you need to go to Notification Blind and select USB Connection and there you need to set PC Mode. For USB Debugging you need to go to Settings >> Applications >> Development >> USB Debugging. The USB debugging need to display notification messages. If the PC can’t display USB Debugging you can try the Charge Only option.

  5. Now you need to double click on the doroot.bat and run it.

How To Root The Motorola Droid 2 In Mac OS X And Linux

Before you start to root the Motorola Droid 2 with Linux and Mac OS X, you need to down the DoRoot.sh file by clicking here.

  1. Extract the files in the Android SDK pack and after that install or update it. The file has the ‘.tgz’ extension and you simply need to access it, and after that you have to drag-and-drop the ‘android-sdk-linux’ folder to your home directory / directory.

  2. Now, download the ‘DoRoot.sh’ by clicking the link above of the Step1 and place it in the ‘tools’ folder of the Android SDK. Or you can choose to download the ‘adbdl.sh’, which is a standard script that downloads, extracts and starts updating the Android SDK; after that you need to download the ‘doroot.sh’ file.

  4. Now you need to find and access the ‘tools’ folder of the Android SDK with the following line of command : cd / android-sdk-linux_x86/tools.

  5. Enter this command : chmod 0755 doroot.sh . After that you need open the script and type in this command: ./doroot.sh

  6. After the above step is completed, the Motorola Droid 2 will be successfully rooted and everything is up and running.
