Internet Explorer 8: How to increase the maximum simultaneous downloads – registry tweak

The number of simultaneous downloads has been increased from 2 to 6 in Internet Explorer 8, but sometimes it’s just not enough, so you might want to increase this limit. If your bandwidth permits you, there is a little registry hack that allows you to increase the number to 10 simultaneous connections.

To increase the number of maximum simultaneous downloads in Internet Explorer 8 to 10 connections, follow the steps below:

  1. Open notepad and paste the following code in it ( If it doesn’t work, delete the double quotes and retype them yourself ):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet Settings]

  2. Save the notepad as IncreaseConIE8.reg, but make sure the “save as type” is set to “All Files”.

  3. Double click the IncreaseConIE8.reg, allow the file elevated status and you now should be done. Check it by trying to download 10 files at the same time.

Don’t forget, feedback is always appreciated.
