This is a simple guide that will teach you to back-up your Windows registry with no third party software or hacks, in less than 2 minutes. The backup can be saved anywhere and applied at time to your existing Windows OP, and it works for Windows Xp, Vista or the latest Windows 7.

So here we go, in three easy steps:

  1. Open regedit.exe through the start menu search or run box.

  2. In the Registry Editor click File – > Export

  3. Chose a location, like your backup folder or My Documents or somewhere safe, pick a name (like RegistryBack2010) and save the file. A .reg file will be saved in the picked location!

And that’s it, whenever you need to restore the registry double click the saved .reg backup file and hit OK, and the registry will be automatically restored to the state it was when you backuped the file. Wow, if ony backing up your life would be that easy…
