How to install Android 2.1 on the HTC HD2

How to install Android 2.1 on the HTC HD2

In the following guide you will learn how to install the Android 2.1 OS on your HTC HD2. This is perfect for users who got bored of Windows Mobile and want all of those Android apps on their smartphone. The software is still in the beta phase, meaning not all of the features work, but the developer promised a stable version and updates soon. The process is not complex.

Before we start, let me explain what you are about to do. Installing the Android 2.1 on the HTC HD2 will not replace your current operating system, the Windows Mobile. Actually, the new OS will run through another software, called Haret. You can get back to Windows Mobile by doing a software reset: push the little red button under the battery cover, using a stylus.

  2. Note: This is a .7z file. That means you will need WinRAR for it.

  3. Connect the phone to the PC, using an USB cable. Now mount the SD card.

  4. Extract the files downloaded above and copy them into the root folder of your SD card, not into any folder.

  5. Unplug the smartphone and using the File Explorer ( on the HD 2 ), find the files you just transferred. You must look especially for a file named Haret.exe.

  6. Double click on Haret.exe and you’re done. To get back to Windows mobile, follow the instructions above the guide.
