How to Jailbreak iPod Touch 3.1.3 on Windows/MAC


With the newest firmware update, 3.1.3, for iPhone and iPod Touch users, the devices have become more stable and a lot of bugs were fixed. Unfortunately, some of the fixed bugs were exploited to Jailbreak the iPod Touch on the older firmware.

If you are the owner of a brand new iPod touch and you want to jailbreak it, we have some bade news. There hasn’t yet been discovered a way to jailbreak the new 2G and 3G model.

On the other side, if your iPod Touch is a little bit older, 1G or 2G(older Non-MC models only), and you just installed the 3.1.3 firmware, you can jailbreak it. We highly recommend to follow our steps and jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 just for the models listed above.

Jailbreak the iPod Touch 3.1.3

Jailbreak guide for iPod Touch 1G/2G with 3.1.3 firmware:

1. Download and install the latest version of iTunes from HERE.

2. For iPod Touch 1G

  • Download RedSn0w 0.9.3 (Windows) from: HERE .

  • Download RedSn0w 0.9.3 (Mac) from :HERE.

For iPod Touch 2G (Non MC model)

  • Download RedSn0w 0.9.4 (Windows) from: HERE.

  • Download RedSn0w 0.9.4 (Mac) from: HERE.

3 Download iPod Touch Firmware 3.1.2 (Yes, OS 3.1.2) from HERE.

4. Connect your iPod touch to the computer and using iTunes update to 3.1.3 firmware.

5. Run RedSn0w.

6.Press Browse and go to the 3.1.2 Firmware file.

7.After the firmware verification, press next.

8.Choose install Cydia and hit next. Don’t mind the custom logos screen, choose one if you like.

9. Follow the instructions on the image bellow.

10. Enter DFU Mode:

11. With DFU mode enabled, RedSn0w will now jailbreak your iPod touch OS 3.1.3 and then reboot.

12. Success, you have managed to jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3

Troubleshooting :

If you encounter the “Waiting to reboot” problem, exit the DFU mode by completing Step 10 again. Re-enter DFU mode, start redsn0w and when it says “Waiting to reboot”, unplug the iPhone and plug it back in again. This may work for some of you. For the rest, restart the procedure and follow the steps carefully.
