How To Remove / Uninstall Windows Active Security Virus (Removal Guide)

If you want to remove the Active Security rogue anti-spyware program from your computer, this article will provide you with the required steps to remove Active Security. We will also talk about what Windows Active Security is and what it does.

Active Security is a scareware (just like the ones we talked about here). This means that it will try to make you believe your computer is infected so that you will buy Active Security to remove it. Once Active Security gets on your computer, it will automatically start when your Windows OS loads. And, to make things worse, it will also try to uninstall a series of security software such as F-Secure, Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware, NOD32, Avira AntiVir, avast!, AVG, BitDefender and Kaspersky.

When Active Security loads, it will perform a fake scan of your computer and then warn you that several vulnerabilities are detected. In addition, Active Security may also find as “infected” some legitimate programs. Therefore, you shouldn’t take any action regarding this fake scan.

Here is a step-by-step guide on removing Active Security from your computer:

1. First of all, click here to download Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. Save the file to your desktop but don’t run it immediately after the download is finished.
2. Close all applications and windows (this one included).
3. Run the mbam-setup.file that you just downloaded.
4. Do not change any setting, install the program and leave both boxes checked when the install is complete.
5. Start Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware, go to the Scanner tab, select Perform Quick Scan and click Scan.
6. When the scan is complete, go to the main Scanner screen and click Show Results.
7. Select all detected malware and then click Remove Selected.
8. Note that MBAM may have to restart your computer to remove all infections. Allow it to restart your system if prompted.
9. A scan log will be opened in Notepad when the removal is finished. Close it when you are done reading it.

Now you should have removed Active Security and all related files from your computer.
