How To Find Or Replace Your Windows/Office Product Key

10.10.2009

If you are having problems locating the product key for Microsoft Windows or Office, here is a quick guide that will help you accomplish your task.

The product key is a combination of numbers and letters that is unique and that is required when installing a product. Without such a key, you will not be able to install or use the product. There are 5 groups of 5 characters, 25 characters in total.

If you have purchased a CD or DVD with the product, the product key will be located on the back of the case. It’s a yellow sticker. If the product was preinstalled by the manufacturer of your computer, same yellow sticker should be placed on the computer case. It is recommended that you keep this sticker in a safe place, maybe along with the CD or DVD containing the product. Remember that you cannot use a Windows product key for an Office product nor the way around as the product keys are unique and product-dependent.
